ADI Rescue Team Re-Unites For Mississippi Premiere

Posted: 13 November 2013. Updated: 13 November 2013

Lion Ark – which tells the story of the rescue of 25 lions from cruel Bolivian circuses and their 5,000 mile journey to safety in the US – opens at Sun & Sand Film & Music Festival in Mississippi on Wednesday, November 13th. The screening will take place at 8.30pm at Saenger Theatre.

This weekend the film wowed audiences at Starz Denver Film Festival with four back to back sell out screenings – the most of the festival. Lion Ark also sold out shows at Raindance Film Festival, London, and Mill Valley Film Festival, California, and won Audience Choice Best Documentary at San Diego Film Festival.

Described by critics as “uplifting” and “the feel-good movie of the year,” Lion Ark has been building a following at film festivals, with other official festival selections including Hawaii International Film Festival, Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and the Anchorage International Film Festival, and will open for week-long Academy qualifying runs in New York and Los Angeles this coming weekend.

The Sun & Sand screening will re-unite three key members of the historic rescue team: Jan Creamer (ADI president, also a producer of Lion Ark), Tim Phillips (ADI Vice President and Director of Lion Ark) and Dr. Mel Richardson (ADI Veterinarian who oversaw veterinary care during the lion rescue). All three will be taking part in the Q&A after the screening.
