Lion Ark is returning to Indiana, screening at YESfest 2015 in November.

Described by critics as “uplifting” and “the feel-good movie of the year,” Lion Ark has taken the film festival circuit by storm officially selected for over twenty film festivals across the US and Europe, been nominated for the prestigious NAACP Image Award for Outstanding International Motion Picture, racked up an impressive ten awards and secured a worldwide distribution deal with ITV GE.

Lion Ark is more action adventure style than traditional documentary and tells the story of a team from Animal Defenders International (ADI) that secured a ban on animal circuses in Bolivia and then, when the circuses defied the law, set about rescuing every animal.

The film takes you right in the thick of the rescue, as close as you can get to the animals, understanding them and the effects of circus life. See the undercover investigations that changed a continent; the lobbying; the enforcement of the ban; animals saved, and a joyous finale with 25 lions airlifted to freedom.

Lion Ark Director Tim Phillips (ADI Vice President) and Producer Jan Creamer (ADI President), who also led the ADI rescue team, will be doing a Q&A following the screening. Both are flying up from Peru, where they are in the middle of another huge rescue – Spirit of Freedom – which will see 33 lions rescued from circuses by ADI flown to Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa . ADI is once again assisting the authorities to enforce its animal circus ban, having successfully secured the legislation. ADI currently has rescued nearly 100 animals from circuses and the illegal wildlife trade in Peru. Find out how you can help ADI with its Spirit of Freedom rescue mission here

Tim Phillips says: “The events recorded in Lion Ark inspired four more countries to pass bans in South America and now we are preparing to bring 33 more lions from those circuses back to Africa. This is a story that is still unfolding and we are looking forward to telling audiences about this latest mission too.”
