Urgent - help end the suffering of animals in UK circuses

Posted: 16 January 2006

The Animal Welfare Bill is before Parliament. We are asking that this be amended to ban the use of animals in travelling circuses. When a ban was discussed by MPs in the Standing Committee examining the Bill, there was considerable support.

This is the culmination of a campaign by ADI spanning over a decade that has brought the UK circus industry to its knees. We have collected undercover evidence of shocking abuse which has opened the public’s eyes to circus animal misery; we have lobbied MPs, secured early day motions, produced reports and videos; we have secured cruelty convictions.

Now we need your help to make a ban on the use of animals in circuses in the UK a reality.
PLEASE contact your MP TODAY.

A personal visit is especially EFFECTIVE so if possible arrange to see them.

Here’s how you can help:

1. Click here to contact us for our free action pack - please include your address.
This contains postcards to be sent to MPs, information and leaflets.

2. Write to your MP
A letter to your MP (House of Commons) will have the most impact.
You can also send an email.

Ask them to support a ban on the use of animals in travelling circuses.

3. Write to your local newspaper – use information from our website and urge people to back the ADI campaign.

4. Email any internet newsgroups or sites that you know, with the call to ban the use of animals in circuses.

5. Please send a donation – click here
The ADI campaign has exposed the suffering of circus animals, we have rescued and relocated suffering animals, and we have brought about convictions for cruelty. Please help us do more.
