Belgium bans wild animals in circuses!

On March 1st, 2014, the ban on the use of wild animals in circuses was introduced into law, making Belgium one of the growing number of nations around the world to take action to stop circus suffering. Circuses will be permitted to perform with some wild animal species such as camels and parrots as these are considered to be domesticated, for whom minimum space requirements have been set under the new legislation.

Belgian parliament votes to pass circus ban

December 2013: ADI is delighted that the Belgian parliament has voted overwhelmingly to pass a bill banning the use of wild animals in circuses, following its introduction over the summer. The bill will now go to the Senate for approval.
