Urge Ski and Snowboard Show to cancel mum and baby reindeer booking

Posted: 31 October 2013. Updated: 31 October 2013

ADI is urgently calling on its supporters and members of the public to contact the organisers of the Ski and Snowboard Show, VOS Media, to urge them to cancel their booking for a “mother and baby reindeer” this Saturday, 2 November. The show will be taking place at Earls Court 2 in London until 3 November.

We are extremely disappointed that VOS Media is planning to feature wild animals at its show once again. After contacting them last year about their use of penguins (see here) ADI had been advised that “the points raised by ADI and the strength of feeling involved has been such that VOS Media as a company will look to revise all activity regarding live animal use in the future”. We had therefore hoped that the Show would not feature live animals again.

In addition to there being reindeer at this year’s event, huskies are also “running around every day of the show”.

Frequent transportation, disruption of daily routines and separation from companions are standard practice for animals used in the entertainment industry – a far cry from how reindeer would live in the wild.

Urgent action

  • Please contact VOS Media today and urge them to cancel their reindeer booking and pledge not to use animals for future events. Email alimot@vosmedia.co.uk and Tweet @SkiSnowboardUK and @vos_Media.
