Urge Covent Garden not to exploit reindeer for Christmas promo

Posted: 4 November 2013

ADI is urgently calling on its supporters and members of the public to contact Covent Garden London to urge them not to use live reindeer for petting and photo opportunities. These beautiful wild animals are set to appear at Covent Garden Piazza every Saturday from 9 November until 21 December.

We are extremely disappointed that Covent Garden London is planning to feature reindeer once again. Despite welfare assurances provided in 2011 when ADI contacted them about a similar display, frequent transportation, disruption of daily routines and separation from companions are standard practice for animals used in the entertainment industry a far cry from how reindeer would live in the wild.

Urgent action

  • Please contact Covent Garden London today and urge them to cancel their reindeer booking and pledge not to use animals for future events. Send a message via their website, Tweet @CoventGardenLDN and post a message on their facebook page.
