These charities currently fund or carry out research involving animals.

Action Medical Research: Specialises in children’s health, tackling problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and adolescents.

Asthma UK: Work with people with asthma, health professionals and researchers to help people increase their understanding, and reduce the effect, of asthma on their lives.

Association for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus (ASBAH): A charity providing information and advice about spina bifida and hydrocephalus. They also carry out research.

Ataxia UK: Support people affected by ataxia [a progressive neurological condition causing co-ordination problems] and fund research into causes and potential treatments.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer: Carry out research, education and campaigns in relation to breast cancer.

The CGD Research Trust: Challenging Genetic Disorders Research Trust funds research into the treatment of genetic disorders.

Childrens Liver Disease Foundation: Promote research into the causes of childhood liver disease; develop means of an early diagnosis and cure; provide new facilities and trained staff.

Children with Leukaemia: Fund research into causes and treatments, support families through welfare programmes and campaign on their behalf.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust: Fund medical and scientific research to develop a cure and provide effective treatments for Cystic Fibrosis. They provide advice and information.

Deafness Research UK: To secure improvements in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all forms of hearing impairment and find cures for these conditions.

DebRA: Patient support group and medical research charity for people living with EB - a very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister.
Diabetes UK: Funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.

Fight for Sight: Supports eye and vision research by providing initial funds to scientists early in their careers.

Kidney Research UK: Fund research into kidney disease, to improve the quality of life of those with the kidney disorders and to increase public awareness of kidney health.
Meningitis UK: The sole focus is on prevention and funding research to eradicate all forms of meningitis.

The Migraine Trust: The health and medical research charity for migraine in the United Kingdom.

Motor Neurone Disease Association: Working to help people with MND secure the care and support they need, while promoting research into causes, treatments and a cure.

North West Cancer Research Fund: Provide grants to support fundamental research in the North West of England and North and Mid-Wales, into the causes of cancer and the mechanisms by which cancers arise and exert their effects.

Parkinson’s Disease Society of the UK: Fund research into Parkinson’s disease as well as provide information and support.

Prostate Cancer Research Foundation: Fund research into the causes of prostate cancer, and share that research with prostate cancer specialists from around the world.

Samantha Dickinson Brain Tumour Trust: Funds brain tumour research, and patient information and support in the UK.

The Cure Parkinson’s Disease Trust: A patient led charity that funds research with the hope of finding an eventual cure for the condition.
