The Constitutional Court of Bogota has announced bullfighting should return to the Colombian capital after a 3-year hiatus, so ADI joined forces with local groups and called on the Mayor to seek the public’s opinion on the matter. A public consultation on bullfighting has been approved.

ADI was delighted to take part in the Teen VgN camp this summer – the first event of its kind for young veggies in the UK.

The European Parliament has strengthened plans by the European Commission to ban the cloning of farmed animals, extending the proposal to all farm animals, their offspring and products derived from them.

Victories for ADI’s No Fun for elephants campaign: In California, Kern, San Diego and Nevada County Fairs have all ended elephant rides. Los Angeles based Curacao department store severed ties with Have Truck Will Travel after ADI presented evidence and hosted outreach for two years outside their annual Children’s Fair. ADI’s complaints about a HTWT elephant used in a wedding ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa – despite a 12-yearold wild animal performance ban – resulted in a citation for the hotel and a commitment to uphold the city ordinance.

On the tenth International Primate Day (September 1st): ADI urged governments to do more to help primates in peril in the wild and captivity, urging legislators to prohibit the capture of wild primates.
