Faith Leaders Join ADI to Call for Animal Protection at The Guibord Center

Jan Creamer and Tim Phillips attended The Guibord Center 2018 Annual Dinner at St John’s Cathedral in Los Angeles April 26th, along with ADI’s US team and actress Jorja Fox.

A new short film, ANIMA - Animals, Faith & Compassion, premiered at the event. This 12-minute documentary, made specifically for ADI’s campaigns to end violence against animals, challenges distortions of religions that have been used to justify and normalize the treatment of animals as objects for humans’ use. The night’s three-hour program included meditations, blessings and a vegan meal provided by Citrus Valley Health Partners. ADI founders Tim and Jan were presented with the new film after it was blessed by Apache Leader and Guibord Center Advisor Sam Bearpaw. The new film to engage the millions of people who follow the 12 faiths represented in the film - including Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Indigenous peoples, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Baha’i, Brahma Kumaris, Vedanta, and Zoroastrian - was the brainchild of ADI supporters Dr Lo Sprague and the Rev. Gwynne Guibord. It was shot and directed by Jennifer Jessum on location in Los Angeles. At the end of the evening, long time animal right campaigner Patty Shenker summed up by saying: “I never thought I’d see leaders of the different religions come together to speak out for animals! It was amazing, inspiring and very needed!”

ADI is grateful to The Guibord Center for making the film, which is a part of The Guibord Center’s Animals and Compassion Initiative. Learn more at http://www.theguibordcenter.org/initiatives/animals-and-compassion.

An Evening Honoring Animals

A big thank you to all who came out on July 23 for An Evening Honoring Animals. In particular, ADI thanks Dr. Lo Sprague & Rev. Dr. Gwynne Guibord for not only hosting our event in their beautiful home, but underwriting the cost of the event so that last night was a true fundraising success. Thanks to their generosity, and to the generosity of supporters at the event including Sylvia Lin & Eric Lee, Ady Gil, Patty Shenker and Doug Stoll, and Jan McGill we are on our way to our goal in support of the Jose & Liso Anti-Poaching Fund. It was a truly special evening in our hosts’ lovely, leafy garden. Guests enjoyed assorted vegan wines sponsored by Frey Vineyards Organic Wine and craft brews by Lagunitas Brewing Company while relaxing on lounge seating donated by Overstock .com

Event highlights included an update on ADI’s ongoing anti-poaching initiatives by Jan Creamer and Tim Phillips and inspiring remarks by special guest, Moby, captured on video by Lisa Karlan of JaneUnchained .com. At the event, Rev. Dr. Guibord also shared an exciting announcement about an upcoming initiative to create a PSA featuring diverse religious leaders’ calling for compassion for animals that will be produced through the partnership of ADI and The Guibord Center, an interfaith organization.

At the end of the night, guests went home with a bag full of goodies including chocolate peanut butter cups by Justin’s, Lush Cosmetics bath bombs, and a set of Pulse wireless headphones by Rowkin. Thank you again for joining us, and for your support. Together we are making the world a better place for animals.
